CIVIL MATTERS
The Civil Division for the Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office is staffed with a full time Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and a half time administrative assistant. Clients include the Board of Nez Perce County Commissioners, the Nez Perce County Sheriff, the Nez Perce County Treasurer, the Nez Perce County Clerk/Auditor/Recorder, the Nez Perce County Assessor, and the Nez Perce County Coroner. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, researching and drafting advice letters and legal opinions for clients, negotiating and preparing contracts and real estate and construction documents, preparing ordinances and resolutions, advising clients on personnel matters, and drafting and reviewing findings of fact and conclusions of law in administrative board proceedings. The Civil Division handles bankruptcy, county welfare, civil rights, personal injury, collections, construction and real estate, emergency communications, drug asset forfeitures, land use, legislative processes, probate and guardianships, personnel and benefits, open meetings and public records, and property taxation. The office hours for the Civil Division are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday (they are closed on all government recognized holidays).
