About Our Facility
The Region II Juvenile Detention Center is located at 140 10th Street, in Lewiston, Idaho. It is within three minute access to the local hospital, as well as other major businesses, and easily accessible to highways U.S. 12 and U.S. 95.
Our facility is a structurally secure 16 bed maximum security institution that is certified by the state of Idaho each year for compliance with IDAPA rules. The facility is monitored by staff and video 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. The facility can accommodate any gender youth under the age of 18 by either being lawfully arrested, contractually arranged, or by an order of the Court.
Contained within the facility are all of the basic needs for the youth: Nursing services, meals, education, and recreation. Meals are prepared by CBM at the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center, and comply with all of the National School Lunch Program criteria for the proper calorie intake for youth. Our nursing services are also contractually provided by the Northwest Children's Home. The Region II Juvenile Detention Center is an Equal Opportunity Provider.
Our classroom is equipped with computers and the internet, and the educational component (4-6 hours per day) is provided by the Lewiston School District.
We have a variety of programmatic activities for our residents to include: Indoor and Outdoor Recreation, Drug and Alcohol Education (voluntary), Religious Activities (voluntary), and Female Specific group work. In addition, AA and NA groups are offered on an as needed basis.
The facility charges a standard $170/day per diem, unless otherwise negotiated. Our primary service comes from the Second Judicial District youth (Clearwater, Idaho, Latah, Lewis and Nez Perce Counties), the Nez Perce Tribe, Asotin County, Garfield County, and the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections. Our average daily census is roughly 10 residents per day.
