VIN Inspections

Auto License is now doing VIN inspections for passenger vehicles ONLY from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Mon-Fri.

Due to limited parking at the Courthouse, please contact law enforcement for VIN inspections for boats, recreational vehicles and trailers:

• If you reside inside the Lewiston city limits, please contact the Lewiston Police Department at 208-746-0171.
• If you reside outside the Lewiston city limits, please contact the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office at 208-799-3131.

• Walk INS welcome, no appointment required
• We will be happy to renew your registrations over the phone 208-799-3026. Credit card fees apply.
• Mail in - Nez Perce County Assessor PO BOX 896 Lewiston ID 83501 - Using your renewal notice along with a check to NPCA or Dropbox located at the Courthouse, 1230 Main Lewiston ID 83501

PARKS AND RECREATION

We offer Parks and Recreation Department registrations or renewals for BOATS, OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES and SNOWMOBILES. A separate payment is required. We are issuing restricted use plates, and TITLING these vehicles and vessels. You may also contact Parks and Recreation to register or renew at 1-888-922-6743 or go to the Parks and Recreation Website.

Vehicle owners without vehicle insurance coverage for two consecutive months will receive a warning and be given 30 days to provide proof of insurance or obtain an exemption before their vehicle registration is suspended. The Drive Insured law (Idaho Code 49-1234) was passed during the 2019 Idaho legislative session, and went into effect in January 2020.
