Solid Waste collection in rural Nez Perce County is provided by Inland North Waste or Sunshine Disposal & Recycling, Inc., depending on property location.

• Inland North Waste also operates two One Stop Drop stations in rural Nez Perce County that accept appliances (old refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, etc.), furniture (old couches, tables, bed frames and mattresses, etc.), tires (up to ten rimless tires per household when either station is open), household batteries, vehicle batteries, household construction debris (lumber, concrete, insulation, etc.), and other large items that can’t be taken by your weekly garbage technician.The drop sites are located at Sweetwater and at the junction of the Reubens/Gifford Road and US 95. These sites are open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on alternating Saturdays - Sweetwater first and third, the highway junction second and fourth.

Those County residents on Solid Waste collection can also dispose of trash at Lewiston's Solid Waste Transfer Station at no additional cost. Please see the information about charges for disposal of certain items in the "Transfer Station Charges and Proof of Residency" section below.

Facility Procedures

Each vehicle entering the facility will need to weigh in and out and license plates will be recorded. This is to provide the City of Lewiston with accurate numbers on materials received.

Landscape contractors will be required to pay a fee. Please contact Clearwater Composting for details.

Out of county residents will be required to pay a fee of $43.75/ton. For loads under 166 lbs or .08 tons, there will be a minimum fee of $5.

Service for Nez Perce County residents is free except for those living in Culdesac and Lapwai who are required to pay the out of county fee.

TRANSFER STATION CHARGES
(Charges effective July 1, 2007)

A fee of $15.00 per refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner or other refrigerant bearing appliance shall be charged self-haul, residential accounts. No appliances shall be accepted from commercial accounts.

A fee of $3.50 per car tire or light truck tire shall be charged self-haul, residential accounts. Tires shall be without rims attached. No tires shall be accepted from commercial accounts.

PROOF OF RESIDENCY AND SERVICE ADDRESS AT TRANSFER STATION
(Effective July 1, 2007)

City of Lewiston and Nez Perce County residents disposing of solid waste material at the transfer station shall produce proof of residency and service address from which the solid waste material was generated prior to disposing of material.

Acceptable documents for proof of residency and service address include current city utility bill, current county tax bill with solid waste fee shown, current electrical bill, vehicle registration and/or driver’s license matching residential user and service address from which the solid waste material was generated.
